After all I have heard for the last few days, it seems to me that the glorious uncertainties of cricket may not be as glorious as they seemed.
The cricketing world has been rocked by the allegations concerning top players been involved in match fixing for quite some time now, but the daring confessions of cronje have exposed that something sinister has been going on in cricket. Just the thought that a match can be fixed never really ocurred to me and even when the earlier allegations came, I regarded them as baseless since all players who are playing at that level must surely be in too much love with the game to even consider such a thing.
I agree that there is too much money in the game today, but surely players should realize that they are not just players, but role-models as well. And surely a million dollars is a small price to refuse for the adulation they get from the people. I can only hope that whatever happens, the prestige and charm of the game doesn't fade. 'Coz only those who dont know cricket think that its just a sport...
