I looked up to the heavens above ... waiting, hoping, expecting for the first snowflake to caress my face.

The first snowdrop had already pushed its tender head from the frozen slumberous ground. The air was sharp, sharp enough to lacerate your lungs and yet the pain was piercingly exhilarating!

I welcomed the pain in expectation of the elusive snowflake ... it had to be worth its weight in gold. Expectation ... I thought with a chiding smile on my lips, what a hopeless thought.

The tiny snowdrop heralded the arrival of spring and yet the birds were keeping unusually quiet, everything stood in frosty silence as if waiting for things to happen, the action to begin. There was a sudden wetness in my palms. I turned around to see Ari looking at me with enquiring eyes, his brows knitted and his gaze totally focused on me ... I gave an involuntary shiver.

I looked back at him a half smile playing on my lips, he must have understood as he came closer. I sat down on a snow drift and he joined me quite oblivious to the cold. I could feel the wetness now on my cheeks and lips and I welcomed it. I gave Ari a biq hug and held on to him burying my face into the warmth of his neck. He in turn put his head on my lap and looked at me with his coal black eyes, his raw need evident.

I lowered my face and nuzzled him and I received my first lasting kiss. Ari knew how to do it right. He jumped on me pushing me flat on my back and my giggles and chuckles broke the stillness around me. Ari wagged his huge tail, gave a series of loud woofs and it was play time again.

It had started to snow again ...

What stayed with you?

A line that lingered, a feeling, a disagreement. Great comments are as valuable as the original piece.
