Leaf Frozen Under Ice

I wrote this after I stood in the Winter's morning sun observing the layer of ice before me with the leaf lying still beneath it. I wondered what it must feel like to be so still when the leaf's nature is to blow in the breeze freely?

Leaf frozen under ice- waiting for the Spring's sunlight to melt away its stillness there so it can blow into the air.

Leaf frozen under ice- captured in nature's sheer delight a sentence in a freezing jail as under the ice you silently wail.

Leaf frozen under ice- did not blow away in time that night when earth turned seasons and it froze trapped so quickly you did not know.

Leaf frozen under ice- next Fall you certainly will think twice before falling to the barren ground waiting in stillness to be found.

Leaf frozen under ice- fear not I see the birds in flight surely that's a sign of spring you can fly like they, with wings.

What stayed with you?

A line that lingered, a feeling, a disagreement. Great comments are as valuable as the original piece.
