This is a short story for children on the butterfly, firefly and the housefly

It is the month of December, it is very cold everywhere. None of the birds wanted to leave their nests. All the animals were burrowed in their houses. Whoa! there is this housefly whose name is Ranu who is roaming around near the bushes whispering to itself.

MY NAME IS RANU, I FLY BY NEAR THE BUSHES, WITH GOD'S NAME ON MY LIPS, WITH LOTS OF HOPE IN MY HEART, THAT THIS EARTH WILL TURN HEAVEN ONE DAY, EVERY FLOWER WILL SMILE ALL THE TIME, EVERY TREE WOULD DANCE TO THE TUNE OF THE WIND THE MOTHER EARTH'S GRACE WILL GIVE ME THIS HAPPY DAY, LORD O' CREATION THIS WHAT I ASK, THIS IS FOR WHAT I PRAY. OH LA TRA LA! OH LA TRA LA!

It's a beautiful day, but how could anyone come out until the sun's heat penetrates and gives the heat, it is going to be like this until the cold wind keeps blowing, thought Ranu. "I love this world, I wish had lots of friends, friends whom I could play, enjoy and share my day with, but alas! I am so ugly and no one befriends me, mused Ranu.

`Mitch, mitch, mitch' came a voice. "Hello there, What is your name? I am Saru, the butterfly."

Hello! er.,er., mmm, are you talking to me? I am mmm Ranu. "At last, there is someone who wanted to talk to him, thank heavens thought Ranu. "My name is Ranu, I am a housefly, bellowed Ranu happily. "I am very happy to hear you, it is so nice to be friendly to someone at last, dont you think so? he asked Saru. Saru nodded, he too was happy to be friends with Ranu. So the two of them became good friends from then on.

WE ARE THE BEST OF FRIENDS. WE TRAVEL EVERYWHERE TOGETHER. WE SING TOGETHER, DANCE TOGETHER. AND MAKE MERRY TOGETHER.

One day, on their play together, they met a firefly, Manu. He was a very proud fellow. He knew that all the insects did not have a glow on their back. He thought to himself that he was special. He had an air about himself, with great pride he thought "Stupid fellows, I dont want to be friends with them, toot too too, boo. He brushed away their inital warmth and friendship.

Saru and Ranu were saddened, they felt he had to understand that everyone had their qualities. One day, they hit upon a plan, they invited Manu especially for a party, they told Manu because he was special, he was about to receive a special party, a party for the only insect so grand.

Lovely! thought Manu. `So they now have understood my importance, you see, everyone has to respect me, as I am special.'

When the party began they was no one in the room except him. Only lot of eatable and melodious music. But where was everyone, they may be preparing, dolling up themselves to meet the special man, after all, thought Manu. But he waited, waited and waited for a long time, He got bored. He had nothing to do all by himself. What a waste of time, he hoped that Saru and Ranu would appear. Please, this is no way to live without anyone, he whispered. Someone, please come, he cried aloud. He cried for a long time. Saru and Ranu who were watching all this, sympathised with him, went into the room. They then explained to him that life without friends would not be worthwhile even if you had the beauty and grace. The three then had the party and merry making together. Manu realised his folly, he thought what a fool he must have been, this is fun, to have many friends, beautiful or not. He understood everyone had their special talents and everyone deserved respect.

LET'S ALL BE TOGETHER. LET'S ALL HAVE FUN TOGETHER. LET'S ALL ENJOY LIFE TOGETHER. FOR IN TOGETHERNESS THERE LIES HEAVEN. A HEAVEN FOR ALL OF US, IN THE GARDEN OF FRIENDSHIP.

What stayed with you?

A line that lingered, a feeling, a disagreement. Great comments are as valuable as the original piece.
