The other, less publicized, face “ In blank verse

We build the latest weapons of mass destruction, but decry Palestinian violence against Israelis. We’ve wiped out the natives. But we’re human! Haven’t we boxed them, in ”reservations“? We campaign for conservation while our elephantine SUVs guzzle. Our people are ”free”, but we have satellites to track down a fart. We believe in free choice, so we change partners like underwear. We like to talk about karma and zen, (haven’t we even turned spirituality into a thriving business!), but we like driving air conditioned metal boxes - with seats that heat our pretty butts, when its cold. Our sophisticated homes are temperature controlled. So what if we spend most of our lives paying off its mortgage?

We’ve got gadgets for every conceivable chore — (don’t tell anyone, but we’re researching automated butt wipers.) We’re past masters in selling. We’ve sold life as a dream of sex and violence through our movie factories. We hypnotize, while being hypnotized ourselves. We create problems to solve problems, then repeat them in an endless cycle and glorify it as progress. We are missionaries of peace, but we have the mightiest guns! Who can compare? We’re the epitome of righteousness! We’re the leaders of the free world!
