Future of the World

With U.N's power very clearly exposed after the U.S's latest war on Iraq, this article analyses the future counterpowers that would arise in the world.

With the return of the “Rule of the might”, we are back into the imperialist age, whereby the military power counts the most. Worst, this has come in a situation, when the whole world knows and accepts in principle that the U.S. is most advanced in world militarily than any other country. Also, by being an economic superpower and spending 5% of its GDP, it just ensures that it will remain the military superpower unless there arises a nation (or) a coalition that effectively demonstrates that U.S” military power is no longer supreme. The other scenario that could happen is the internal revolution in U.S and split up of U.S into different countries just as what happened to U.S.S.R. But, this second scenario is not possible to occur at this moment and we shall safely ignore it. So, there is a need for various other nations to arise against U.S inorder to maintain the power balance in the world. Will E.U take the role ?

Two major countries in European Union which have sufficiently large military power are Britain and France. But, Britain would always support U.S just to maintain its long-term relationship with it ( U.S also acknowledges this by providing rewards in terms of infrastructure building contracts when a war is over, just like what happened in Afghanistan). With France being the lonely power in Europe that can vehemently go against U.S and with its loudest anti-war voice on Iraq, there will prevail sufficient amount of “Cold war” espionage activities between U.S and France during the coming years. Also, China would act on its part to put its weight behind France, to counterbalance the threat from U.S to its very own integrity. With Russia and Germany hanging along with this alliance, a new alliance would begin. Apart from all this, there would be increased terrorist attacks from jihadis around the world to revenge the war on Afghanistan and the war on Iraq. These jihadis would act independent of the alliance of France, China, Russia and Germany. These four countries will get the military support and diplomatic support from their own friendly countries. Apart from the countries which are very friendly to these countries, it is expected that countries which are not under threat from U.S would join the neo-alliance formed by U.S.. This new alliance would not reflect the existing alliance in NATO and NATO would collapse.

What stayed with you?

A line that lingered, a feeling, a disagreement. Great comments are as valuable as the original piece.
