A dream to travel. Think you never will? Think again. All it takes, is a little bit of luck, and a lot of imagination!
For those of you who have, you'll know what I'm talking about. And, for those of you who have not, well, in a few lines (or maybe more) you too will be empowered by the sheer beauty of travel. To highlight just a few places of interest...
If I spoke to you of a cold wet blistering day, I would be undoubtedly speaking of England, where, incidently, the weather always plays an important role in most conversations. "If you don't know what to say, talk about the weather," is a said-unsaid English motto. London, one of the major metropolises, has a lot of talked about places, from the famous Wax Works of Madame Tusads, the Big Ben, to the much publisized Royal Family!
Now lets take the much hyped America, a.k.a. the US of A. If you haven't been there, all you are really missing out on is its diversity (a lot like India in that respect). From the sun-kissed sands of lets say Miami, to the "very happening" New York city, namely Manhattan. As a tourist the must see places are quite typically the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, and undoubtedly Central Park, for all its appearances, in American sitcoms like Friends.
Now for those of you who have, like me, not travelled too extensively. All you need is a bit of knowledge, tons and tons of imagination, and a quiet place, like your bed or a favourite chair. You could just sit down, open your atlas, shut your eyes, and let your finger glide over the list of names till you reach something that catches your eye.
Hawaii (though I've never been to it) seems like a tropical paradise. Palm trees, beaches and balmy breezes, it seems idyllic for anyone, from the laid back beach bum, to the workoholic who needs a break.
Even if it is something like Timbuktu, which strikes your fancy, that's fine too! Just surf the net a bit, or any good encyclopaedia till you find out some statistical facts like what the climate is, important places to see, the type of culture and race followed, and so on. Then, shut your eyelids, open your mind's eye, and dream. Imagine you're there experiencing all the wonderful sights, eating all the delectible foods, and dancing the naitive dances. It's almost as good as being there.
Though its not as good as the real thing, it's a wonderful experience all the same, and a really fun excercise.
"Dreams are the umbilical chord connecting us to reality."
What stayed with you?
A line that lingered, a feeling, a disagreement. Great comments are as valuable as the original piece.
