Looking at their faces, I see aggression, hurt and sparks growing into fire

Picturise this....One of the most eminent institutions of Mumbai, time around 11 in the morning and the administrative block appears like an apiary reduced to a virtual babel thronged by parents and children. Highly perplexed, I to satisfy my inquisitiveness went to one of the students who seemed totally lost in his own World and looking blankly at the sky with his eyes welled up with tears, I question him "What's wrong, why is everybody acting so hyper?", no reply......finally his face stiffens and takes all hues, finally settling for a dark red, he replies with such belligerence "i will sue them all,I will not let them get away like this so easily, it's my career afterall." I try to assuage him, he relaxes a bit but now it was the turn of the one sitting next to him to spit out his anger "You know ,they (the mumbai university people) say ,we can't procure admission because they don't have seats for us, what do they want now? Should we put our careers at stake?"

I probe further in the matter to discover that our deemed Mumbai university was able to accomodate only 1769 students through it's centralised admission cell as against 7176 applications it received. Here the students were protesting not just over the shortage of seats but also the fact that there apeared to be discrepancies in the way colleges had been alloted.

It's not the case with just this one university, there are hundreds to join in and the students all over the nation are left to swim against the tide.

One student approached me and handed me his marksheet 72%, quite impressive from a commerce student but he too did not get his desired college instead his friend with 68% got that same college, reason, everybody knows what happens under cover!! Another girl chirps in with her voice literally choking "my friend commited suicide as even with 62%, she couldn't gain admission."

Every year so many of our youngsters reduce down to commiting such silly acts not being able to withstand these pranks played with their future. To add icing to the cake this fellow tells me "When i made it to PI ,the board asked me how much could i pay for that seat !",I was left speechless...wondering what more have they to face?

What stayed with you?

A line that lingered, a feeling, a disagreement. Great comments are as valuable as the original piece.
