When I look at my past, I see achievements, glory but misery and loneliness is not far behind...

I can't blame destiny or fate for anything because I myself have made my life a station of woes and worries.

The questions that "what have i acheived ?" ,"what do i have ?"and "what more can i get?" spin in everybodys mind because no human is satisfied. Every person in this World is in search of something, "SOMETHING" which he himself is unaware of.

A quest for what is best, search for an incomparable, matchless path to peace. But the irony is, the peace lies within ourselves.

Then why are we unable to tackle our problems. Actually our mind can be likened to a leech, for it clamps onto our various moods. This is the cause for our sufferings and worries. The inability to let it go is the real problem.

When a plate of hot rice is left to stand until it becomes cool, people use the word "Nibbana" or "Parinibbuti" meaning "to extinguish the heat". Similarly ,when we extinguish the heat in our minds we relieve ourselves of these sufferings.

Buddha has taught "Sabbe Dhamma Nalam Abhinivesaya" which means "nothing whatever, should be grasped or clung to (as me or mine)". Grasping and clinging arise from misunderstanding about the way things are.

Like in Geeta Lord Krishna has said "what did you get in this World, that you claim is yours?","why do you feel sorry for losing something which was never yours?".

So very true!Once a person starts living with this realisation, can break all shackles of life. But how many of us are wise enough to awaken to this truth?

A den of strife is household life, And filled with toil and need, But free and high as the open sky, Is the life the boundless lead. Pabbajja Sutta, Sutta Nipata,v406.

What stayed with you?

A line that lingered, a feeling, a disagreement. Great comments are as valuable as the original piece.
