The Wisdom of Vedas II

Herein this article I will take a shloka from Atharveda (II-1-3) and explain it. This follows the Part I of this series
SA NAH PIT JANITA SA UT BANDHU DHARMANI VED BHUVNANI VISHVA YA - DEVANAM NAMADH-EK- AVAM TAN` SAMPRASHNAN BHUVNA YANTI SARVA. (ATHARV VEDA II - 1-3 )
TRANSLATION
The true knowledge (or reality) is the dharma* of all the planets & stars of this universe (BHUVNANI VISHWA). It is the creator or generator (Janita) ,caretaker or operator (Pita) and coworker or doer (Bandhu) { see GOD as Generator ,Operator, and Doer }It is known by different names by different persons and in different times , but in reality is only one, and is prevading the entire universe
COMMENTARY
Dharma * of vedas is wrongly equated with the word religion as it is used in English language. It has nothing to do with the object and type of ritual worship. DHARMO DHARYATI PRAJA It means dharma is the one which supports (Dharyati) all the creation (Praja) We know that all the material world which is created and hence must end ( destroyed ) is existing in its present form or state due to some universal laws. In other words all the creation (universe) is existing according to some laws (Niyam - Dharma ). Eienstein & Stephen have identified four such basic laws e.g law of gravity, law of electromagnetism, law of weak forces and the law of strong forces. Veda recognizes only one basic law -Dharma governing the existing universe.
Contemporary scientists led by Stephen Hawking are also confident that one basic law can be formulated which can combine all the four laws described above. They call it unified field theory. They are in the process of developing this theory. This unification of basic forces inter nuclear, intra nuclear, and inter planetary forces is visualized beautifully in Vedic literature . by sutra YET PINDE TAT BRAHMANDE. It states that what is true for minutest particle (PINDE) is true for largest planet in the universe. ( BRAHMANDE ). Another important observation of VEDIC RISHIS is conceptualization of universe as BRAHMANDE ( ultimate sphere) BRAHMA as VEDIC God is not some supreme power as depicted in later date Hinduism or other religions. It is the menifistication of universe.
The RISHI observes in the above SHLOKA that the energy which keeps the universe in existence ( DHARMA ) is the cause of the creation, existence and continuation of this universe . It is only one ( EK EVEM) though it is known by different name of Devas (Power ) and is pervading the entire universe (YANTI SARVA ).
EXPLANATION
The RISHIS realized that the glorious reality or true knowledge is free from all constraints of time and space. It is pervading the entire universe BHUVNANI VISHVA )
The theory of universe as visualized here postulates that there was only one form of concentrated energy in the begining of the universe This concentrated form of energy is called the HIRANYA GARBHA . At the precise moment of origin of universe this super consciousness willed to change form. The physical part of the energy was converted in to matter . ( E = m c 2) There must be a cause of this change of form of physical energy in to matter. There must be a cause to produce an effect.. The cause and effect go together. There can not be an effect without a cause.
Obviously the cause has to be greater than the effect. Hence the super consciousness has to be greater than the physical energy that creared the universe. This omnipotent consciousness is visualized as having three basic parameters. i.e. Generator (JANITA ) ,Operator ( PITA ) ,and Doer (BANDHU) abriged as GOD and expressed as the trinity of gods BRAHMA (generator) VISHNU (operator) and SHIVA (doer) of Hinduism This GOD or TRINITY is the one true reality or true knowledge.
Due to ignorance and time/space constraints people have tried to describe this ultimate truth (reality) in the form (JEEVA) as the mirror image of the perceiver. With the progress of science and knowledge we can now realize that the inanimate and inert material (PRAKARTI) and the mortal life (JEEVA) can neither be creator operator or doer of the universe which is immortal beyond the limits of time and space.
The consciousness can not develop in animate nature.(PRAKRATI) Similarly the living organism (JEEVATMA) can not control an eternal and infinite phenomenon. The ultimate truth has to be beyond the PRAKRATI and JEEVA , i.e nature and living organism .However this nature and organism is part of the basic reality (super consciousness) which is created by itself from itself (SWAMBHU)
It can thus be concluded that it is this super consciousness , the unknown as yet, form of energy which was the motivator (cause) of transformation of energy in to matter at the origin of universe, is the G.O.D of the universe system and will be the cause of the back transformation of matter in to energy at the end . This cycle of time starting at the beguning of the creation through its existence and ending at the end will start whirling once again and again and again. (KALCHAKRA)
