Vedas are the heritage of entire humanity, not of hinduism alone..

Eyam-kalyanzara matrsyamratam girhem yasme kritashaye-sa-yashchkar tya ATHARVA-VED X-8-26

In this shloka (pslam) the Rishi defines true knowledge. We know that our mind works like a computer It collects data from experiences from real life through five sensory organs e. g eyes ,ears, nose, mouth & skin. Whatever we sense is stored in our memory. The accuracy and quality of this data will depend on the exactness of perception of our sensory organs This data is then sorted out categorized, and classified by mind (vivek) it is termed as information. . This power of discrimination called Vivek is necessarily to be used to convert data in to information. The information is then processed , analyzed , and synthesized to convert it into knowledge by the property of mind known as Dhriti.Dhriti converts information in to knowledge. The knowledge is thus , the reflection of our perception of what we feel through our senses as truth. This may be true ,false, or wrong depending upon the capacity and ability of perception . This capacity varies with individuals. And we may be having as many knowledge forms of the same object as there are persons .Also since it is person oriented it decays with the time and space parameters.

To understand which of these different forms of the knowledge about the common object is truth ,the absolute truth, hence independent of time and space thus eternal and immortal ,shall be the quest of each one of us who are the seekers of the true knowledge.

In the above shloka the ancient rishi has defined this absolute and eternal knowledge. He states that the eternal ( kaljayi) and benevolent ( kalyankari) knowledge is above senility(zara) This true knowledge which is immortal resides in the mortal body(mind) It is lying in the minds of persons ,who are sleeping in perennial ignorance and thus is decaying rapidly..An ignorant person can not see the true knowledge as he considers his data as perceived by his senses as knowledge. The true knowledge is independent of time and space It does not changes form. The knowledge is true when it represents SAT (truth) CHIT (benevolence) and ANAND( happiness)

What stayed with you?

A line that lingered, a feeling, a disagreement. Great comments are as valuable as the original piece.
