If I could do anything in the world..
If I could do anything in the world, the first thing Id do would be to leave it. Then perhaps I would buy myself a huge chocolate fudge sundae, crawl into bed with a book, switch on TV and do absolutely nothing.
On the other hand I could be an optimistic fighter- looking for meaning everywhere, contributing to the world and generally going through life believing that my existence mattered.
And having done both at one point of time or the other, I wish there were a third, more exciting alternative.
There is a crisis of love and companionship. Its easy to understand why people fall out of love- and that too for no apparent reason. A boredom that grips and a quest for excitement that leads one asunder. The need to know and fall in love with someone new, someone different and someone who holds a promise and a mystery. The joy of discovering. And after the sex has lost its novelty, nothing remains maybe just a guilt of having been immoral - premarital sex with someone with whom youve fallen out of love. And of course one shall no longer dream about the one true love coz one has grown up and one has had one true love too many. So thats another avenue of hope and reason closed.
Take refuge in comedy.
What stayed with you?
A line that lingered, a feeling, a disagreement. Great comments are as valuable as the original piece.

I think you are trying to judge actions of past in the present frame of time....which is causing all this anxiety..and would always do so because this doesn't leave any room for change..which is the only thing which prevails!!
